Not a great winter for birds so far but pretty good here at Sealyham for mammals. We first saw an Otter in our pond on Feb 3rd and it's been back daily since then, sometimes for long periods (today is the 10th. I know they are supposed to be nocturnal and shy but this one just isn't. It must be a young animal I imagine band it can be recognised by a pink mark on its nose. It watches me sometimes and if I move it'll slope off over the bank towards the river but if I stay still it sorts of shrugs its shoulders and gets on with fishing - swirling through the muddy bottom and picking out loads of Rudd.
It allows for lots of photo opportunities and some of the results are below.
